Located in the Drylands south of the Sundered Lands, the Desert of Desolation is an area contained within the Dustwall - a ring of mountains seven hundred miles across, created in the blast of an ancient cataclysm.   A formerly fertile region supported by the Fountain of Athis, the area turned into a desert when an evil pharaoh's death-curse dried up the Fountain. Now, only a handful of desert dwellers eke out a living, monsters roam the wasteland, and evil guilds prey upon those who walk the desert. Worse yet, a thousand-year-old prophecy of the return of an ancient evil is showing signs it is about to become reality.   It is into this area that a party of heroes arrives. At first unwitting pawns in the thousand-year-old machinations of the archmage Martek, it is up to them to prove they are the heroes of prophecy and the saviours of the Desert of Desolation.

  • North-eastern Desert of Desolation
    The north-eastern region of the Desert of Desolation is sparse and lightly settled, with a handful of groups clinging to life around the widely-scattered water sources. Ruins of the vanished Raurin Empire date back to before the River Athis dried up and the desert moved in. The Sandvoyagers Guild is the only reliable means of travel through the area for any who are not hardened adventurers.
