Session 8: Many Pillared Halls of Stone Report

General Summary

23rd of October, 1916 P.M.E, Girt Dwe, Rhun Karaz

Wisps of dust fall from the surrounding halls. The walls shake as the thundering voice carries throughout the laberinthyian structure. A subtle echo fades into tremor of unease. Is that scuttling you hear? Or just your mind playing tricks on you?
The party is waylaid by a band of bugbears. An extensive battle breaks out and the expeditionary force triumphs. However, this victory was not without its losses. Jordis was nearly slain, but Khagmadog called upon the powers of Dumathoin to heal his fallen companion. Further, Mores and Ezekiel we're left heavily injured. The decimated bugbear force retreated into the shadows, a lone warrior remained, entangled in Mores' vines. Ezekiel restrained the beastly creature and interrogation ensued. After extracting as much information as they could, Ezekiel incapacitated the bugbear and the party left the shrine room, following their steps back to the marbled room with the large pool. From here they looped around back to the room with the crushed eggs that they had been at about an hour earlier. Along the way, they found various entrances into umber hulk caves, iron pits, and various mining supply storages.   In one of the many halls, Khagmadog found a couple of mushrooms which he identified as Jazz Cabbage. Mores and Llobh ate the mushrooms, which appeared to have no effect other than being a filling snack. Mores took the five remaining mushroom caps and placed them in his bag. Shortly after gathering the mushrooms, Khagmadog realized that the mithril block he had found in the shrine was the head of a mace. Upon piecing this together he combined the pommel, hilt, and head to craft an ornate warhammer. The party then explored the various paths branching out from the shrine room, eventually ending up by a gate that leads to a vacuous cavern filled with narrow bridges and passages.   While investigating the gate, a laughing child is heard off to the left. The party saw what appeared to be a young boy wearing a black onesie and a white rabbit mask. He held a wooden stick with a horse skull mounted on the top between his legs. He ran from a room on the left, to a room on the right. The party followed the child into the room, which had no entrances other than the one from which the party came. The boy was nowhere to be seen and inside the room sat a large painting, centered against the back wall. The painting was a monochrome depiction of the boy and a large, animated coffin traveling through a dilapidated graveyard in a dark forest.
Mores and Jordis touched the painting and were transported to a realm of black and white. After, traveling through a dark forested graveyard and across a questionable rope bridge they came upon a cliffside cabin. Inside was the large coffin man from the painting. He was very accommodating, offering Mores and Jordis sweet rolls, and introduced himself as Algernon Archambeau. The boy from earlier was hiding behind Algernon, who then told the party the boy's name was Cadieux. Eventually, the rest of the party joined Jordis and Mores and purchased some of Algernon's peculiar items in exchange for crimson denars, or "Akantium Pieces" as he called them.
