Session 9: Dhogarhum & Dragons Report

General Summary

October 23rd, 1916 P.M.E, Dhogarhum, Rhun Karaz

The session began within Algernon's Artifice, a strange store located somewhere in the Shadowfell. After some discussion, the party decides to travel back to the material plane. As the party left, Algernon made a comment about someone called Rom'Gol'Ghok, or as he calls himself, 'The Prince of Punctuality', saying something along the lines of "if you run into him, tell him Algernon says he should go fuck himself".   After passing through the painting-portal, the party returned to the desolate halls of Dhogarhum. A debate ensued about which way to go. After some time, logic prospered and the party decided to pass through the unnavigable, winding, and treacherous bugbear caves. Eventually, finding themselves somewhere where they hadn't been before. The new region of the tunnels was a collection of long halls filled with decorative banners. These halls lead the party to the ruins of a grand library. Orimnok recollected about the great Okri dwarves who must've built the hall while Jordis scoured the various bookshelves for items of interest. Jordis' efforts were not in vain as he eventually found a strange orb filled with mist.   Eventually, the party pressed on, passing over a great chasm and into three exceptionally large halls. Pillars outlined the rectangular rooms and in between each set of pillars sat a stone chair hewn into the very stone of the hall itself. The party thoroughly explored one of the three halls and found a throne at the far end. It was ornately decorated with gold and had the name 'Bhaznulim the Earthsunderer' engraved on it. They left the hall through the north passage and came across a fork that, according to the signage, went to Okri's Bridge or the Burial Chambers. The party followed the former.   This path brought them to a huge dining hall and eventually a spiral staircase that entered a large room. In the center of the room was a massive statue of Okri, a smithing hammer held by his side, with his right hand pointed perpendicular to the party's path. The party decided to follow the pointed hand, which brought them to a grand bridge. Escape seemed near as glowing white light shined forth from the mouth of a tunnel at the other end of the bridge. The only problem was the sleeping black dragon that lay between the party and their objective.
Orimnok checking Broldrig's vitals (he dead.)   With some interesting distraction tactics taking play, a great battle ensued between the dwarven expeditionary force and the three juvenile dragons. Llobh's helm of brilliance sent forth prismatic rays slowing the dragon's assault. Jordis threw the orb he found earlier, releasing a Djinni, who quickly engaged the dragons. Polis was surrounded by magical darkness and called upon Crom to guide him. With lightning engulfing his sword he charged forth striking the largest of the three dragons. Ezekiel bravely charged as well, engaging a dragon in single combat (but never rolled above 10). Khagmadog's hammer flew out of his hands bludgeoning one of the dragons and boomeranged back into his hands.   In the chaos, Ezekiel and Polis sustained significant injuries. Broldrig unfortunately perished after being engulfed in acid breath and during the final moments of the battle, Gotrek was struck unconscious after losing his right hand. After the threats were heroically neutralized, Khagmadog and Orimnok stabilized the heavily wounded.
