Spiders and Thunder Report

General Summary

In setting himself up as the new apothecary of Darknook, Mehmen Ashid required some specialised ingredients to begin brewing potions - brainberries and exceptionally pure water. After enquiring of his new ally Old Nelly, Mehmen found both could be located at a spring within the Llangoed Forest.   However, after an encounter with some of the ghouls said to be roaming outside Darknook, Mehmen was not keen to venture in alone so accompanied by Badalona he headed to The Triumphant King, the inn in Darknook with a reputation for harbouring more adventurous types. There he was able to enlist the aid of the Elven Ranger Alok, and two youngsters - the Bard Thomas Marchant and Marble, who had recently begun working tables at the inn.   Together they began the overnight trek to where Old Nelly indicated the spring could be found.   Soon enough the group soon encountered the wandering ghouls. They were able to kill 2 and drive off a third, traumatised by cutting words directed at it by Thomas. After searching the body they found a scrap of paper with the word "Triumphant" on it, which the young goblin Marble identified as having handwriting belonging to his employer at the inn.   With the exception of the forest being eerily absent of any bird or wildlife, the group were able to make it to the spring without further incident. Although they did notice that a large number of oversized webs were appearing on the trail and into the forest. These continued to get thicker as the group approached the ruins and, in searching for the berries, both Mehmen and Badalona became entangled in the webs.   At that moment they were surprised by the appearance of an ettercap who called himself Kikkit. Kikkkit proclaimed himself the guardian of the area and told the party that they could have the berries if they sacrificed one of the group as food for his "babies", a pair of giant spiders. The same deal was offered for the rights to gather "his spring water." When the group agreed Kikkkit changed his mind and attempted to trap them, provoking a thunderwave from Thomas.   A battle took place during which both Thomas and Mehmen found themselves on death's door. But the group was able to defeat Kikkkit and his "babies" and secure Mehmen the precious ingredients he required
