Chapter I: They Make Ready for War Report

General Summary

The chapter started on a chilly Saturday evening January 24th. The Prince, called for an emergency meeting of the Primogen to discuss his summons to Berlin. The meeting was held during a showing of the musical "The White Chrysanthemum" at the Residenz Theater where Katarina and her childe, Susanne were attending. Susanne took the lead role white Katarina managed the event.   Katarina convinced the Prince to allow her to observe the meeting since she was the host. Meanwhile, Josef was in the audience after following Maximilian, who was attending as a chaperone for his sister, Wilma. Josef took the opportunity to also observe the meeting in secret, although he was told off by the Sheriff, after being discovered. Josef became distressed upon realizing that Maximillian had fallen for the beautiful Toreador Susanne during her performance.   Because the meeting was called so suddenly, only the Brujah and Tremere Primogen could attend. The Nosferatu primogen was nowhere to be found.   The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the summoning, and make plans for the coming war among the kine and the population reduction it would inevitably cause. Sieghart argued for an aggressive stance of attacking the Anarch population to reduce the strain on the city hunting grounds, while Dietrich argued for caution and allowing the Anarchs to strike first to generate an excuse for targeting them. The meeting came to a close with no conclusion and the Prince leaving to catch a train to Berlin. Before leaving, he commanded the Primogen to not to anything careless. He also asked Dietrich in private to watch over his childe, the seneschal Vinzenz Bader. Dietrich agreed and was offered a Minor boon in return.   The next night Dietrich was informed that the seneschal had left the Camarilla controlled domain and headed to Kalk, an Anarch controlled territory. Worried, he called upon Josef and Katarina to help intervene. Josef knew about an Anarch named Magda that could potentially help them. They met Magda at the edge of Kalk. She was not willing to divulge the information, but she relented after being coerced by Katarina. She had been dealing with the seneschal, and mentioned that he was heading to the park at Kanal-Strasse.   At the park, the coterie found Vinzenz staked to a tree, surrounded by vampires with the message "I dare you to eat me, I am of the 8th Generation" written below him. Luckily the coterie managed to de-escalate the situation and bring the seneschal back to Köln. He was meek and offered no info on what had happened, stating he could not remember, and asked the coterie to stay silent about the affair. Dietrich and the Sheriff tried to dig through his memories which they realized had been remover, but to no success.   On the 26th, Josef realized that Maximillian had received a letter from Susanne as a response to his fan mail. He brought the issue up with Katarina, and she told Susanne to stay away from Maximillian stating it was "Elder business" and left it at that.
