Chapter IX: Red Scare

September 28, 1915. The war among the mortals continues to rage. The Anglo-Frankish forces are reeling from a series of failed offenses into Germany. This is despite deploying the horrific tools of poison gas against German forces.   Clan identity is becoming more and more of an important topic among the vampires of Köln. The Prince is drawing a hard line against clan Toreador, and the Nosferatu are becoming even more withdrawn than usual. The city elders are dredging up conflicts old and new, and the position of neutrality is becoming harder and harder to hold onto.

Chapter VIII: A New Enemy

May 24th, 1915. The Kingdom of Italy has declared war on the German ally, Austria-Hungary. Meanwhile the battle lines of the Western Front stagnate. In Köln, the peaceful times are reaching its end as age old tensions tied to clan and the blood move to the forefront. The Prince is testing the loyalty of his supporters at the same time as his enemies are recruiting in secret. Those in the know are also worrying about the possibilities of the Followers of Set returning to the city.

Chapter VII: Serpent in the Blood

January 19th, 1915 The warmth of Christmas fades into the new year. The respite is over, for war cannot rest for long. Perhaps peace will come this year?   The Nosferatu are stirring, but are staying silent about what may be happening. The Tremere deal with their internal issues while striving to maintain their perfect facade. Meanwhile, the Ventrue are beginning to move. Tensions are rising in the city, but nobody seems to have the answer as to why.   Who will fall victim to the serpent in their midst?

Chapter VI: Christmas Truce

December 24th, 1914 If the war is supposed to be over by Christmas, then the soldier boys better hurry and finish up. Views on the war are becoming bleaker among the kine, and many celebrate Christmas with a somber mood.   The nightlife in Köln has grown silent since the majority of the Anarch faction was destroyed in a surprise September 23rd. The pieces have been dealt out to those whom it seemed deserved it, and everyone is going back to normal as they wait the war out.   This calm won't last. It never does.

Chapter V: Bad Blood

September 6th, 1914 The German army has almost reached Paris. It is clear to military command that despite the high resistance met by German forces that the war with France will soon be over as the armies on both sides draw battle lines.   For the creatures of the night, life in Köln has been hectic as the Camarilla has been scrambling to cover what may be the largest masquerade breach of the city since the Napoleonic Wars. Now that things are under control again the Kindred turn to their normal games of intrigue against each other.   Already questions and feuds that were put on hold to clean up the breach are bubbling to the surface again.

Chapter IV: March of Blood

August 20th, 1914 The German army had begun pushing into France and Belgium. The United Kingdom has also joined the war. Every day, more and more soldiers pass through Köln to man the growing battle lines.   While the kine fights their war in the day, the Kindred of Köln face the start of their own conflict. The death of Claus Mann, the childe of the Anarch leader, Dan Mayer, has galvanized the Anarchs.   The lines are already drawn, and neither side wishes to back down. The question now becomes, who will be left to rule the ashes that remain after the battles to come?

July 28th, 1914 The heir apparent of the Austria-Hungarian empire was shot dead exactly one month ago. For over a month, mortal kine have sat with bated breath as tensions in Europe heighten. They are at the brink of war.   What will the Kindred do in what may be the last days before the greatest conflict the world has ever seen erupts, from small sparks into a Great War?
