Session 15: Of Goddesses and Horse Love

General Summary

We began as Alarphon Proctar Luthen Cormaeril arrived in the market square, cane tapping, flanked by grim-faced battlemages and a nervous recruit. Lucky, ever the rogue, attempted a disguise behind a horse to pose as a lawyer—a ruse instantly foiled by Luthen’s keen gaze (nat 20 perception, sorry Lucky!).   Stopping short of the group, Luthen’s calm but cutting words resonated through the air: “By the command of Lord Warder Vainrence, you may consider yourselves under arrest.”   Solas asserted their innocence, prompting Luthen’s icy response: “That is a question for interrogation, not the streets of shitville nowhere.”   Swordcaptain Kreskur Harrow stepped up, defending the party’s heroism. Luthen, unimpressed, silenced him with a thinly veiled threat: “Confidence like yours often benefits from... refinement under questioning.”   Even Solas invoking Helm’s authority couldn’t sway him: “Divine arrogance, I assure you, is something I know how to handle.”   With no fight, the party surrendered—except Colmir, who wildshaped into a bug and flew to freedom. The group was secured in an anti-magic wagon.   Inside, they met Ty, a sprightly woman who clearly knew more than she let on—speaking cryptically about luck and chance and greeting Bob like an old friend. It soon became evident to Solas and Lucky that Ty was, quite likely, Tymora, Goddess of Luck.   A game of dice ensued for her aid, culminating in an improbable series of ties (1 in 7776 odds!). Amused, Tymora agreed to help just this once, noting the wagon door “must have been left unlocked. What luck.”   Under the cover of night, while camped in a layby, the party devised a plan. Solas opened the door—attracting the attention of the recruit. Bob decked him, dragged him into the wagon, and headbutted him unconscious while he screamed. A battlemage raised the alarm, but Lucky cast a perfect Sleep spell, dropping her mid-sentence.   However, the noise woke others. One battlemage staggered up, oblivious to Solas glowing like a Christmas tree thanks to his magic mace. Somehow, she missed him completely—too focused on waking her colleague.   The party escaped into the woods, Colmir arriving in wolf form to join them.   Lucky, the rogue that he is, stayed behind for one final act—stealing a war-trained horse. Casting Haste, he and the horse locked eyes in mutual admiration. In a moment of pure halfling charm, the horse decided, “I love this little man,” and together they bolted east at 30 miles per hour, dodging spells and fording rivers.   The rest of the party, led skillfully by Solas (with Colmir ready to correct), found safety deeper in the King’s Forest, bedding down for a rough night.   The next morning, their 50-mile trek through the wilds was interrupted by an Owlbear barreling through the trees, pursued by two Ettins. The creature slammed into Bob, unarmed as his axe was still with Lucky. Meanwhile, in Minroe, Lucky—disguised—retrieved his shopping and secured gold from Dorian Skatterhawk.   Back at the Owlbear chaos, the Ettins accused Bob of stealing their Owlbear, and battle ensued. Bob fell to a club, and Colmir, in polar bear form, was almost kidnapped as a new pet for the giants. Despite the chaos, the party prevailed—battered, bruised, but victorious once more.
