Session 22: A Devil's Threat Report

General Summary

We pick up the session with the party studying the strange creature that assaulted them. Definitely draconic in nature, but not a true dragon. Close inspection with magic determines that this beast has some sort of transmutation magic holding it together, suggesting that is was created this way by merging the part of two or more creatures together. Instead of hunting wolves, the party gamble on the parts of this creature being valuable, as dragon parts are incredibly valuable to the right people; and every part of a dragon can be used. However, the party have no way to transport the immense bulk of this creature, so decide to try and harvest some key parts to bring back with them.

  • Draconis Fundamentum x1
  • Dragon Claws x6
  • Dragon Scales x1
  • Dragon Wing x1
  • Dragon Horns x2
Harvesting this much takes the majority of the day, so the camp in the forest once more before heading back to Duin before the parts they have harvested begin to spoil. As they drag the pieces of the dragon? out of the forest, they stumble upon another dragon, a Young Green Dragon, slumbering in the tree-tops above them. With the smart use of some concealment magic (pass without trace) and some good stealth rolls, the party manage to slip by the slumbering dragon without disturbing them.   On their travels back to Duin, Asog gets tired dragging the heavy wing and the party stop for break. Nearby another individual, who introduces himself as Xymore, invites the party to join him for a picnic with some foods he had gathered at a nearby village. Xymore is quite talkative, and eagerly chats with the party and listens with great interest in their stories.
Asog uses his divine sense to determine that Xymore is more than he appears; a celestial in fact. Using the small clues they have observed about this individual, and the Asog's alerting to the group (Using Zolv's telepathic abilities to communicate amongst one another in secret) Ophellia has a moment of revelation (Religion check: 30), the seven canaries reminding her of a famous sorcerer with an interesting rumour behind him, Xymore the Extraodinary, who rumour suggests is an aspect of the Dragon King; Bahamut the Platinum.   As each member of the party slowly stiffens up in the presence of such a possible entity, Xymore questions them. Only to claim that the rumour is true, and also admitting that he knows that he knows they carry the mark of Moirai, the Fate Weaver. He explains to them what being marked in such a way entails. That such individuals are blessed with great potential, to become whatever the want or need to be. However, some view it as a curse, as they are burdened with the protection of their world. Some Fate-marked individuals become figures of legend and lore, while others are un-sung heros and many meet their fate on the path of becoming such heroes. But he assures them, that whatever fate might awake them, that they areacknowledge and appreciated by those who know of the fate-marked.
The party question him about the storm, but he reveals little more than what the party already know, saying that: "It is a long story, and one I do not have time to recount to you. Also, that some things are better left untold. Secrets lie in the shadows of this world, some forgotten by time, others obscured so as to protect the world from their threat. That sometimes to acknowledge their existence, is all it takes to grant them power. But perhaps during the course of your adventures, such secrets will reveal themselves to you."   After their shocking encounter, the party continue on their way to Duin and drop off their materials at the Guild to get them appraised. They are told to return the following day to recieve their reward. They head to the tavern in order to rest up. While enjoying their meal, they are approached by the female rabbitfolk that they 'saved' from the pack of drakes. Only for the voice of Hazirawn to emerge. Hazirawn taunts them, threatens them and promises them a slow and painful death, but will spare them such a fate if they deliver to him the head of Solomon. While the party do not know this Solomon, Hazirawn insinuates that they do, suggesting that they will meet him some time in their future, in the past.
Hazirawns ends their conversation by having an unknown devil assault them, but they quickly dispatch it with teamwork. Hazirawn applauds them, but quickly makes his own departure. In the aftermath of fight, Duke is pissed that his tavern has been trashed. Ophellia and Zolv spend some time communicating the Uriel and confirm that the person at the other end of the sending stone they found in Uriel's tower is indeed Solomon. Limited by what he can communicate over the sending spell, Uriel says to come to him if they want the answers they seek. And so, the party begins to plan and prepare for their journey in earnest.
  • We end the session there. Next session will likely be limited to a shopping and planning session. Ryan (Icarus) will not be attending, and Cyice (Zolv) will have to leave early.
