Session 33: Doug Doug Revolution

General Summary

The party gathered near the doorway into the tunnel. In the dim light, they made out the silhouettes of a pair of short creatures, humanoids with hooves and long, bushy hair. The creatures were upset that their guardians had been defeated, and tried to send the characters away, warning them to leave. Rome, Shadow, Eirame, and Frederick the snake followed the creatures stealthily, with the remainder of the party trailing along after a while. The passage descended gradually, opening eventually to an underground lake, the tunnel turning into a rocky promontory with a large boulder at the end. Two bound humanoids lay, faces covered, at the foot of the boulder.   Shadow tried to stealth and take a look at them, but, spotted by the creatures, one of them used magic to cause a rope to try and entangle Shadow. Drawn into combat, the creatures seemed to have fun with it, using magic to make Doug dance uncontrollably. Incredibly tough and wiry, the creatures did serious damage to the party with greatclubs, but eventually surrendered. One of the bound prisoners was Rabanath, the missing woodcutter; the other was an autumnal Eladrin, Zaythe, who was a member of the Delirium Travelling Troupe. Zaythe lived in the grove around the ruins when he wasn't on tour, and routinely used magic to give the surrounding trees autumn-coloured leaves. This time, on his return, his magic went astray (because he's a wild magic sorcerer), opening a portal to the Feywild, which attracted the creatures. Zaythe was too tired to attempt reopening the portal, so the creatures bound him, intending to use him as a hostage in exchange for magical services reopening their way home. Rabanath happened upon the grove by accident, and was also captured.   The party worked together, with Doug and Rabanath gathering wood, Rome performing, and Doug, Rome, Shadow, and Zaythe all casting magic at the fire. Empowered, the purple flames grew and an image of a moonlit meadow in the Feywild solidified, and the creatures passed through. Zaythe revealed to Rome that her parents had retired within a couple years of Elios' death, and Erris had gone with them. They were in a smaller town somewhere in the forest. Edrin was still with the troupe, and he and the others, including the group's leader, Maskir, lived in Eleth Telnara. Maskir, a large male orc, was known to frequent the Root and Tap in the Boughs district in the city, a residential area; Maskir took in live music and scouted possible new acts at the inn. The party slept in the grove with Zaythe and Rabanath, preparing to head back to Eleth Telnara in the morning.
