What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The process of linking articles was an incredibly useful tool to save time and energy when creating new articles and such, however there's no easy way to quickly cover all of your previously written articles with this. Meaning if you're someone who uses the basic layout of WorldAnvil, you will need to enter each article, change format, then hit the autolink button for each individual article to link it to relative plots etc.How does this feature request address the current situation?
If there was a button at the top of the articles section (where all of your articles are stored) which could Mass link all of them (or maybe just selected articles), that would save an endless amount of time and make the world easier to navigate. I imagine this process wouldn't be instant and would take a while to search and load, but I'm certain that people wouldn't mind the wait.What are other uses for this feature request?
- This feature might be able to piggyback off of the search function and tell you how many times certain links would be used.
- It could tell you which Characters are mentioned the most and show you where.
- It could also provide a baseline code for future tools which could utilize this (ie 'Find and replace' feature that allows you to easily change the name of a character or deity without issue across all articles)
The Team's Response
Although this might sound useful, implementing the autolinker in such a massive scale can be a great drain on resources and will cause people to spent processing power willy nilly that will slow down the website eventually for everyone regardless of what you are doing. That will be a hard no in order to protect the system.
