UI Headers customize custom override

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I love the templating system and the specific sections on each template. I often find myself wanting to use them but opting out of them because of their "generic" names. As a result of this, i often have my generic article section overflowing with unreadeable code.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

I'd love to have an option where i can still use the template section as before, but override its name, so the "Architecture" section for example becomes the "Dwarven Marble" section. This would give the writers an easier way to incorporate custom headers without sacrificing editor structure and having to resort to a huge blob inside the generic section of each template.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! It's declined, as this would add an unnecessary amount of complexity to the UI for something that can already be achieved with custom BBCode headers or key-value pairs in the sidebar (--KEY::VALUE--).

    BBcode is just for this.

    Not sure about this one. I understand the problem but it could get horribly confusing if there is a lot of text remapping going on. There is nothing to stop you adding your own BBCode headers in the middle of a block of text to break it up and so a large generic article can be made to look like it is following a funky template in a way that is indistinguishable to the reader. I use that a lot. There's also the option for the relevant account level (can't remember what it is) to create custom templates. I've dabbled with that, though and I don't think you can add a new section type but maybe that would be a better way to go if you could and if you really want to reuse a layout?

    I'd find this a nice part of making customized templates, but not a default feature for normal articles as it'd make the interface horribly bloated.

    While it would save me time in building a sidebar within the "body" of the article, it doesn't take a lot of time anyway, and the mess of code can be helped by leaving oneself notes

    /* like this */

    about what is what, and/or placing excess spacers to remove later if you're working on the sidebar and the body of the article simultaneously.

    I am struggling to imagine how inserting one header where another header wasn't is a blob of code to anyone. I still like your idea, but I'm not stoked on it.
