What's Wrong?

I can't seem to find an easy way to make a "geography" layer to my maps that just shows geography pins. Other ideas that I have had that follow a similar problem are height maps, possible underdark layers, and secret maps that you don't want the players knowing about just yet.

Why layer-specific pins?

Layer-specific map pins would allow for easy swapping between the geographic and city maps, meaning the map would not be cluttered up with pins that are needless information at the current time.

What else can layer-specific map pins do?

Beyond making it so that your entire world and all of its layers can fit into a single map, layer-specific map pins can help you keep your maps looking clean and easy to read so that your readers and players don't get too bogged down by EVERY PIN IN EXISTANCE. It will make maps easier to read, more aesthetic to look at, and more functional overall.

The Team's Response

Hello there! This is already a feature :) What you need to do is to create a Marker group and then associate both the layer and the pins you want with that marker Group :) Easy!

Right now, this is sort of possible. You can connect marker groups with layers... BUT it works very strangely. Once you do that, the layer gets merged into the marker group (instead of the marker group getting merged into the layer). So the layer disappears from the layers interface and you can still wind up with multiple marker groups turned on, but only showing one of the layers. If the existing feature was adjusted so that the layers are shown on the layers interface, but the connected marker groups were hidden the existing feature would work great.

I might be missing the intent with this, but I believe you want to have a set of pins associated with a specific layer. This is a Master feature called "Marker Groups" that can be done by associating specific markers with a layer. If this is not quie what you're asking about, I apologize, but this is what I've seen (and used) on my own maps.
