Yearly Holidays Associated by Day of Week in a Month

New Feature Addition · Calendars · Created by Sahelanthropus
accepted

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The ability to associate a holiday with a specific weekday of a month (for instance, the 4th Thursday of November), yearly.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

It would allow for additional ways to track holidays in calendar creation. For instance, a real life example would be Thanksgiving (as referenced above) which occurs on the 4th Thursday of November, meaning which specific week and the date can be different every year.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Hard to say, but it'd certainly be useful for setting up calendars, and it'd add another way to have holidays tracked on a calendar.

I like this idea. Just being a bit mischevious, potentially the rules for festival dates can be even more complicated than this simple example allows. The calculation of the date of Easter for example. Not sure how far you can or should go with algorithmically calculated dates but maybe just something a bit more advanced would still be nice to have.

Thanksgiving is in October for Canadians. Always amusing to see Americans celebrate it so late. lol.   That aside, the function proposed would certainly be useful.
