search bar functionality articles content
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
When hitting "Enter" or "Return" on some devices, and without a proper "Search" button prompt in the search functionality, the first most relevant item is highlighted and so will be selected *instead* of bringing you to a search results screen. Instead you are brought to the first suggested article, making it harder to compare or search broader with the search result page. It is possible to get to the search page on some devices where this happens, but you basically have to hit Enter the moment you hit the last letter in your search before the drop down suggestions pop up.
For example, when searching the word "War", if you allow the suggestions drop down under the search bar to pop up on a tablet laptop hybrid (where I discovered this is an issue), about 7 articles are shown suggested under the search bar before you hit "Enter". The first suggestion is auto highlighted, therefore, when you hit "Enter" to search the articles, you will simply be forcibly taken to that hightlight article, not a search results page.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
Adding a "Search" button next to the search bar, or changing the drop down suggestions which appear while you are typing to NOT highlight the first suggestion will allow people to go to a general search results page and browse and compare article search results side by side.
What are other uses for this feature request?
Article comparison and cross-referencing items of similar events.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion—a future update will address this issue, although probably not in the exact way you suggested. Accepted!
