texteditor navigationimprovement
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
I've noticed, and I'm sure many of you reading will agree, that when you are writing or editing a long article, whether using Euclid or Plato editors, the only way to navigate through the text you are working with is by scrolling up and down. This ends up wasting a lot of time, which supposedly, WorldAnvil offers to save, becoming a cumbersome obstacle to creativity. Adding to this, when we switch to "View source," it defaults to the end of the text, and if you return to normal mode, you're back at the beginning of the article. So, once again, you have to scroll up or down to get back to where you were working, reviewing, or editing.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
It would be fantastic—and wouldn't really save a lot of time—if in editing mode we could have some automatically generated index, like
does in "View mode", like an automatic table of contents that provides links to different headings or chapters within the text but WHILE EDITING. This way, we could easily get to where we were or jump from one point to another in our article while editing it.
What are other uses for this feature request?
Checking and correcting the text, adding new elemments like images, more text, etc. Would be much easier becuase the exact point where we want to insert new content is substantially easier and faster to reach.
The Team's Response
Thanks for your suggestion! We're accepting this for consideration, as we think it's a good idea but we need to look into how we can integrate this with the editor UI.
