Why
Currently, when tagging articles on World Anvil, the system does not offer tag autocomplete or provide a word cloud of tags already used within the world. Implementing these features would streamline the process of tagging and promote consistency in our world-building projects.
How
Tag Autocomplete: When a user starts typing a tag, the system should suggest existing tags that match the input, allowing the user to select from the suggested options. This would help users avoid creating duplicate tags due to misspellings or variations in wording.
Word Cloud of Existing Tags: A visual representation, such as a word cloud, of the most frequently used tags in the world would help users quickly identify the most common themes and topics within their projects. This feature could be displayed on the article creation/editing page or in a dedicated section for easier reference.
Benefits
These enhancements to the tagging system would save time, reduce the potential for errors, and encourage a more organized and cohesive approach to world-building. I am confident that these features would be a valuable addition to the World Anvil platform, and I hope you will consider implementing them in a future update.Follow up

Follow up: Allow renaming tags and have articles auto update tags. But might make a second request for this
Follow up: Mass tagging system would also be good. Already at 130+ articles 40k words in a few weeks. Almost done with the smallest continent, and it's going to get worse

Thanks for your suggestion! You have great taste in features, because the core feature you suggested is already planned and will be implemented in a future update. As for auto-updating tags and mass-tagging articles, these are different features that would require different implementations and therefore are not accepted. However, we'll keep them in mind and investigate the possibility of implementing them.
