Editable Prompt Titles

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I love having the prompts & connections area, especially the template specific ones, as they allow me to flesh out my articles in a very detailed way, and maybe in a way I wouldn't have thought about before. It also helps me compartmentalize all of the info I want to put into the article. However, sometimes I wish the titles of these prompts were slightly different and not so vague in order to encompass everyone's specific world.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Allowing users to edit the titles of these prompts within the editor would allow a lot more flexibility and flavor in the exact text of their articles.   For example, the instance that made me write this request happened in my Sci-Fi world, where I was writing about a space station when I wanted to include what planet this station orbited in the sidebar. The "parent location" prompt is pretty much what I need (and it allows me to automatically link the article!), but the space station isn't exactly on Earth. It would be perfect if "Parent Location" said something like "Orbiting Planet" or "Primary Body" or something like that.   This is something too specific to my own world to warrant a whole new prompt area, especially when parent location exists and is already essentially what I need. Allowing these titles to be edited on the display side, preferably while keeping the original text (parent location) on the editing side for clarity's sake.

Note:

I understand that I would just be able to use my own headings and such to create an identical "prompt" either in the general prose section or sidebar areas, but this kind of defeats the purpose of being able to organize as those would be in an entirely separate area while the prompts that already fit (but need more specific language) stay empty.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! We're closing this due to lack of interest from the community. You can create custom section by using headers, as well as custom side panel fields.

I never use template prompts for this reason exactly, I'd love to change the headings to better fit what I'm talking about!

Been stated here already, but you can create your own templates or use the key/value codes in the sidebar to add your own versions of prompts that look just the same in the output.

It sounds to me as what you want is to create your own templates, and that you can already do.

I think it would be a neat feature, but also I'm currently happy to use either the existing ones as they are or add my own headings with BBCode :)

This idea was already declined a while back.

(I assume you're talking about the field titles within the article templates, not the worldbuilding prompts under the "Discover" tab.)   I know it sucks when people downvote your suggestions, so I'm sorry in advance, I'm not trying to be mean! In your example, having the parent location of a space station be a planet makes perfect sense to me, I see no need to change that. The wording of that and other field titles is crafted so that it encompasses many different options without being too specific or too vague. In my years spent creating hundreds of articles using basically every template, I've never found a field title that doesn't make sense (or if I have, it's since been edited in a concrete fashion.) Adding in the ability for every user to change every field title would probably take a lot of work and result in a super specific outcome that I definitely wouldn't use, especially since I can already create my own headings in multiple different places if I want (which I usually don't.)   Also, this feature would mess with one of my favorite parts of WA, which is the consistency between articles created using the same template, no matter the author or the world. I really, really like this consistency and don't want it to change.
