What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The ability to tie marker groups to layers (including the "base" layer!) but not like how it works currently. Assign multiple marker groups to each layer, and only the marker groups of that layer are visible when a layer is selected with their initial visibility settings.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
Currently it is not possible to have a nice multi-layered map and the viewers of the map have to do a lot of manual toggling. For example this is a nightmare to navigate.
It would be more ideal to have the underdark marker groups show up only when the underdark layer is selected, the hells gate groups only when hells gate, and the rest only when the base one. I wanted to add an underground map, but realized it would be practically useless. For a viewer to switch between layers requires 5+ clicks (!!!!) cause they need to select the layer, then toggle off the existing groups then FIND the groups associated with the layer (not always clear!) and toggle those just so it looks like intended.
What are other uses for this feature request?
It would strictly be used for multi-layered maps and making their navigation not a nightmare for viewers.
Technical stuff
Marker groups tied to non-selected layers would be automatically off and when selected only those that are "loaded on initial" are turned on automatically, but the rest still appear as toggleable like it currently functions.
Follow up
TLDR.: tie multiple marker groups to layers, when a layer is selected only the tied marker groups are available, viewers dont have to click 5+ toggles to view the intended second layer map
The Team's Response
Hi, thanks for the suggestion! A future update to maps will have a similar implementation that will cover this issue.
