World-Ember -Summer-Camp -NaNoWrimo -Private-Worlds
For those working in private worlds, it can be really frustrating to be unable to track personal progress and participate in events like NaNoWriMo, Summer Camp, and World Ember.
Can we please have a way to submit our progress even if we do not qualify for prizes, but still be able to participate in some capacity?
The Team's Response
First of all this is kind of irrelevant for NaNo :) We are not checking wordcount for it on the website. you can do as you please :) In most cases it's the NaNo stats that are shown by winners and even that can be faked, that is on you and your relationship with the community and yourself :)
Regarding WE there are a lot of reasons that this should not happen.
You do not need a competitions world. You can set temporarily your world as public, your private articles will remain private and the ones created will count and display
It is wholly unfair to the rest of the community, not only private articles cannot be checked but this is a public competition that aims on inspiring each other.
It demotes significantly the value of the badge, "At least the badge" badge mentality means that if the badge can be cheated then its value is minimized or utterly lost since I can simply create a single lorem ipsum article of 10k words and get the badge. We have people who done it PUBLICALLY , and we were able to vet them out, imagine what will happen if it was private.
Your dashboard has stats :) You can very easily check where have you been in the beginning of the month and where you are now :)
