Current date in Chronicles

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The new Chronicles feature is great, and I am looking forward to seeing what new developments are rolled out with it. One thing that is currently missing is the visualisation of the world's current date. In a Timeline of our own history, for example, if would be good to either have the Chronicle stop in 2022, or show that after 2022 it is describing future events.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

I am suggesting that the world's current date should be indicated somehow in Chronicles. This could be in the form of either setting the current date as the highest possible date that the Chronicle shows, or else a visual transition (such as a change of colour of Timeline lanes).

The Team's Response

Not. against it at all but it has too low support to prioritise at this point.   To answer some of the points above:
  • Future events can be hidden (make them private)
  • You can create an event called CURRENT DATE which probably will be the last event of the Chronicle
  • It cannot be red since red denotes the current date being browsed

A visual transition would be very useful, or even better the ability to set future events to hidden. That way, you can pre-define major events, and as your world timeline moves along, they can be revealed. World configuration already has the option to set the current date, so it should be a variable that can be pulled into the Chronicle.

I would suggest just a red line through the Timelines which indicates the current date (like many normal agendas do)

A solution to your issue is to create a simple event called Current date.

Absolutely needed, along with the suggestion for multiple eras being shown on the chronicle.
