Player View for the DM

I suggest a mode that allows a world creator to see World Anvil from the Player’s perspective.
Due to bugs and being unfamiliar with the website, it can cause players to become confused with locating articles, maps, etc and to help them with glitches. Whenever I try to help them navigate the website or deal with a bug, I must look at their screen to help them because their layout is much different from mine.   Adding a feature to allows us to see a player’s view to help them navigate quickly to desired information or to understand if they’re experiencing a bug. Plus, when assigning secrets in an article to be viewed by a specific subscriber group, it would be helpful to be able to see that article from the subscriber groups perspective. This would make it super helpful when designing articles, too.
This would really help speed things up with creating articles with secrets for specific subscriber groups and help decrease time spent helping them navigate articles during a game session.

The Team's Response

Hey guys, this was already discussed in the past. and although I am closing this due to low support, there is already a plan SIMILAR to that, that it WILL allow you to have an overview of which categories/articles/images/timelines/events your players can/cannot see.

This is also helpful for ensuring they only have access to information that is supposed to be public and private details aren't.

Yeah, I know you can do this with the map but I don't think you can do this with other article types. Always asking my players to check to see if it looks weird on their end lol. So I support this function.

My DM has to ask me to view my screen, this would save him a lot of time and headaches.

This seems like 2 requests, but I agree with both requests. Having a player view is super helpful for the DM, and, the more generic request, seeing what others see with different permissions is invaluable. I've had to contact one of my subscribers to help me work through what they do and do not see.

I have my paid account and I created a junk account for the sole purpose of being able to view pages as a player. That's pretty cumbersome. This would be a great help when I've reviewing pages to make sure everything displays to players as I desire while still hiding the goodies from them.

Yeah, while I can do a generic un-logged-in player through Incognito mode, I'd really like to double-check the view as a specific player when I'm messing with a lot of secrets or trying a new thing.

As someone new to the platform and importing a campaign during its downtime, I fully support this feature. All my players will be new to the platform, and my inexperience makes me reluctant to include secrets without some form of testing.

Subscriber view has been shot down in the past, the best way to test as a player is by creating a dummy account used solely for testing.   https://www.worldanvil.com/community/voting/suggestion/524f8907-9954-491d-bc49-8c13e97b71ec/view

Yes! This is much needed. I put in much more time (and money!) into WA than my players can, so this would be great for helping them navigate the site. Love the subscriber view, too. I laid out much of my world before my players joined, and I'm not too sure if there's any articles that they can't see but should.
