What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
At the moment, world owners can notify followers of updates only when tied to specific articles. This is helpful for content revisions, but it doesn’t cover broader world-related updates—such as structural changes, feature additions, event announcements, or community notes—that fall outside of an article edit. There is no way to send a simple, world-level broadcast to followers for non-article updates.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
Adding a world-level broadcast tool would allow creators to send notifications directly to followers (and optionally to linked Discord channels) without requiring an article edit as the trigger. It aligns with the existing notification system’s workflow but expands its usefulness to general world management and communication.
What are other uses for this feature request?
A world-level broadcast could also support things like downtime notices (WIP masss changes), theme or layout changes, milestone announcements, collaboration calls, and general community engagement—any update important enough to share but not tied to a specific article.
Follow up
I may be wrong here but the current notification options I know of are (depending on subscription):
1) Article Specific to World Followers, Discord or Recent Articles
2) Timelines to World Followers
3) Community Post (Global - More than just followers)
4) Journal Post (Author's Profile or Global/Community Followers, not World)
I see some work arounds, but nothing that says.. "Hey I added a new Global Menu" or "Theme updates", etc.
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! We're accepting this under investigation; we need to have a wider internal conversation about notification and community features and this will be part of that.
