What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The ability to automatically add variables in the same way we can automatically link to other pages, especialy link variables. Currently there is no functionality to do this on a large scale or with any level of automation. I use link variables extensively to link to anchors on various pages, and whenever a new link is added I have no way of updating past pages other than a slow and tedious readthrough of all existing articles, or clunky find and replace macros through external programs.How does this feature request address the current situation?
Adding variables to the autolinker, or another function like the autolinker for variables would allow variables to be added as quickly and easily as article references can be now.What are other uses for this feature request?
Having a feature like this would allow for expanded use of the variable system, especially on larger worlds where manual insertion of variables would be unrealistically time consuming.The Team's Response
Thanks for your suggestion! However, as variables are a separate system from articles, this isn't currently possible without significantly changing how the autolinker works. Therefore, we're declining this due to not having enough support for the amount of resources this would require.

on 2023-08-18 17:56How would it detect this? The variable is just a piece of code. On what would it match? I really don't see how that is useful. Just use the guild mention system to add the variables quickly while you are writing.

on 2023-08-18 16:06Yes please. This is an absolute yes for me, as I use a ton of Variables. I have to manually add them to every single article, which can get taxing. I've started to build out local macros to try to replace variables on articles after I'm done with them, but it still a lot.
