Article-links Global-updates placeholders
What is the issue
There does not appear to be a feature that would allow a user while writing an article to create a new article reference and then reference that article in another draft before making the reference article itself
How would this help
Allowing users to reference placeholder titles while they work then globally update this across all other articles would allow time saving when world building. If a user has a evil king that they want to reference in a number of article but have not fleshed out the name etc, currently they would have to wait to name the character then go back and insert the article references. This way the a reference article could be made, referenced to and changed all without having to generate the article first.
As mentioned before placeholders would allow for faster world building and removed the need to backtrack through older articles to add in article links. This idea comes from a similar feature in Obsidian where links are updated and created globally. Alternativley when you make a reference link in an article the article is automatically made so the author does not have to do so manually.
Follow up
I've seen a couple of people say that this can be done with variables. I feel this is being said because I haven't properly explained what this is. Variables work fine when you are not making an article. I am wanting to have article names to update globally and be refference before the article is fully created. While yes this functions similar to variables the key difference is the intent to have an article there and in multiple other locations, and have that process be made easier
Another follow up from the comments left by both those who agree and disagree with the idea.
This is NOT just making an article to reference to. In World Anvil currently once you make an article and reference it any time you change the orignal article you have to manually change all reference instances to it.
While I have seen solutions to this using variables this seems like it could be simplified a lot and would still require manually changing the link attached the the variable as changing the name of an article changes the link url
The Team's Response
Variables already allow for this functionality :)
