It would be a nice change, but I would prefer if you could choose whether it appears in the header or sidebar. I like it in the header when there's name information, but it ends up looking a little silly when it's by itself.
Sidebar is, in most cases, going to be the better spot for it since there might be more clarification need than what you can cleanly do with the current system.. It might be nice to have an option to toggle it, or have two pronoun boxes (one to go into the header with their name, and one for the sidebar which could allow for more details.)
A person is not defined by their pronouns. I rather have it in the side bar or somewhere else less obvious as the introduction text of a character also gives a clue about the preferred pronouns.
I write and include a lot of characters that are trans or nonbinary (as a trans person, if anyone cares). It would be nice to have this be natural and not placed like a title, so representation is done well. Last thing we want is to feel like the feature was added haphazardly.
I personally would prefer it to be in the sidebar, but to make it work for everyone, there could be either a drop-down box to choose where it'll show up, or, possibly more easily added, two separate fields to fill in, one for sidebar, one for the header, so people can choose that way.
As a nonbinary person for whom pronouns are very important, I still like this suggestion a lot; it doesn't detract from the pronouns, it just makes it feel a little more intuitive and makes more sense to me.
This isn't a 'political issue' - the topic of what pronouns a person/creature might use is sometimes genuinely ambiguous or unclear, whether because of non-humanoid sexes or even simply human diversity (i.e. intersex people). The pronouns are already here to stay, as the devs have stated! But having them on the sidebar, especially under a picture, would be nice aesthetically vs. them being at the top of the page as-is.
Can we not push this site in that direction? It's still relatively useful, I don't want it to be overrun with RL politics.
I think the current usage is better, you use the pronouns when you address someone, and that belongs to their name. This is a non-issue if you use the name section of the character template (which is a good solution for longer names or for maiden names and etc. that you don't want to put into the article title, same as pronouns)
Honestly, I don't really care either way, as I don't use the pre-prompts
I second WeStanNikolai. I understand the wish, but I personally prefer the current placement. I also frequently use the naming fields and I even think the current placement is less confusing. I do believe there should be an option to put the pronouns in the sidebar instead, but it shouldn't be a complete overhaul.
Though their placement is less distracting when the name fields are filled in, I agree that placing them on the sidebar with sex and gender makes more sense. Plus the separation of name and pronouns, and the additional label for the pronouns, makes it all a little more clear to readers.
I get the wish, but I kind of like the current placement. I frequently use the Naming Fields, which makes the Pronouns appear behind the full Name and Nickname of the Character. Maybe it can be like the sexuality fix (https://www.worldanvil.com/community/voting/suggestion/4384b1ba-fd63-4651-b63e-275173d47e6b/view) and we get both options?
