What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

You can link current holders to a rank, but you can't link ranks to a character. This is unsatisfying because if I have 50 nobles in my world, I might not remember all of them when editing a rank, but I do know if a character is a noble or not when editing that specific character, so it's way more intuitive there.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Currently if you want to link ranks to characters you can either use the social tab of the character (which does not do the cross-linking of the feature), or you can use the linking system (the good one), which is hidden under ranks / historical details / current holders. Now this shows up on the character too, however I can't assign the ranks from the character's page weirdly.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Not much, this was exactly what I was looking for, but I never expected it to be hidden under the ranks themselves so it took me 6 months of worldbuilding before I found it. I would have found it very quickly if it also showed up in the character page, it would look especially well in the new generic tab, under current state.

The Team's Response

As you can see from the replies above this is not as simple as it sounds.   There literally over 200 connections between templates.   It connection has a parent and a child connection. Parent is where you define it, child is where it appears on the other side but not inputted.   If was to make it for one of them there would be literally no reason for the rest of the 199+ to asked to be changed as well.   Of course the other issue arising is that some already big templates will pretty much another 30 - 50% larger which is actually worse UI.   This is an absolutely massive endeavour that will stop development on anything else for weeks.   The question is - is it worth it? Does it add enough value to you compared to everything else to do so and do enough people want it.   These are the questions I have to answer and the first/only indicator I currently have is only 81 people voting (80 positively)   Based on the above, and until this number changes and becomes a more holistic approach I will have to close this.   As always, if you wish to discuss it with me - #developement-discussion :)
