What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently there is no way to create an article with comments disabled - you must go in and disable comments on every single article if you want comments disabled. This gets very tedious and easy to forget if you have lots of articles.How does this feature request address the current situation?
Would add a togglable option (like the current Article Forced Privacy State setting under World > Configuration > Settings > Advanced) that would default new articles to have comments disabled.What are other uses for this feature request?
Could have similar toggles for other Article Preferences:- Display the title of the article in presentation mode
- Show in Table of Contents
- Show articles under this in the Table of Contents of the World
- etc.
Follow up
Clarification update: This change would not disable the Social Features like the current global option does. It would simply set the per-article Enable/Disable Comments setting to Disabled by default, leaving the option available to be turned on for those articles where the author wants comments enabled.

on 2022-01-19 00:32Being able to edit, or at least see the status of, the article preferences without opening the entire article would just be really nice. It might risk cluttering the UI, though.

on 2022-01-11 04:47I could see someone needing to disable comments but leave likes up in the future like Soullink mentioned. Also it makes sense that for someone that is a GM to not have worlds public by default and they may also want the comments off by default.

on 2022-01-10 11:23In the world settings under Display > Global Options you can disable World Anvil Community Social Features. This disables all comments, likes, follow and read later. I guess it would be neat to have a separate option for each of those or at least one for comments and one for the rest.
