What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Currently, variables are not usable within statblocks. This was explained to me as it being because "variables are in world scope while statblocks are global in scope (even when associated with a world)." Some sort of workaround would be useful (if it's possible).

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Skills and other such things found in most games could then just be inserted as a variable and have a tooltip pop up when you need a refresher on the details. Then a character sheet could be more streamlined and concise while also providing universal definitions to commonly used skills, items, etc.

What are other uses for this feature request?

This could be used for all manner of common features, such as definitions of specific terms on a character sheet, skills (as mentioned above) & traits, or even common non-combat items.   Overall, it would just really help streamline various sorts of statblocks.

The Team's Response

Considering the fact that statblocks are not world specific and variables are - this might be very difficult to impossible to implement.
  • It can possibly be achievable for world specific blocks but this will require a complicated implementation that will need a bit more support to be considered.
