Ostron Trading Company

Often shortened to its acronym, the OTC is a fast-growing naval trade organization starting to make a larger mark on the changing world. In spite of strained beginnings, the company took a chance on a group of explorers decades back, heading off to chart new lands. Time eventually led those explorers to discover a miracle resource they called scarlet sandleaf. As the owners of their ships, the OTC secured their own share of the wealth that would come as the world’s spellcasting community took interest in the sandleaf, and the company boomed.
Naturally, the OTC is interested in expanding their ability to market scarlet sandleaf and support the people farming it at Redbar Island. The island is small, though, severely limiting their ability to increase supply. However, the Crimson Coast, near which Redbar Island rests, is lined with the strange, red-tinted sand required to grow the sandleaf, and the only thing keeping the people of Creston from expanding to the mainland beyond their island is the threatening nature of the continent at large. The company’s most current plans have focused on securing the Crimson Coast to expand their harvest, and recent world events have given them some new means.
A new deal brokered with the emerging science and discovery giant, Pulminov Research & Industry, and a guild of mercenaries specialized in monster hunting, the Peregrine Pact, has soaked up a significant amount of OTC wealth. Should their investment pay off, however, the Crimson Coast could flourish, and all three organizations would benefit in their own ways — for the OTC, the expansion of farming scarlet sandleaf would blow their current income out of the water.
The Ostron Trading Company is always looking to draft contracts for new members who have something to offer. Their public image favors deals with craftsmen and service providers to expand their services for a portion of their earnings. This is only the surface of their dealings, though. From buying someone's debt, to paying jail bonds and more, the OTC will go to nearly any length to hire the talent they believe will ultimately benefit their bottom line. Charismatic faces and skill jockeys in particular may find some hidden opportunities to climb their business ladder.
