Personal history

Let me explain my name, which puts the rest of my story into perspective. My full name is Thuliukuvoreth Wichbuen (my friends call me Rath). This name has been hands down to the first born male of each generation. According to my father, this name was given to our ancestor thousands of years ago as a title in honor of their service to the Dragon of Fire. Some family members believe it came with a promise that the original Thuliukuvoreth made. That promise was "Whomever of my blood has this name shall give their live in service to the Dragon of Fire." For generations this name bore honor and prestige, but then there was Thuliukuvoreth the Fire Blooded. He was somewhere around the eighth to tenth Thuliukuvoreth (stories vary, even in my families ancestral books). It is said that he used the honor, prestige and power to kill a local magistrate and raped his wife. Afterwards the knights of the land banded together to thwart him. Thuliukuvoreth Wichbuen the Fire Blooded killed almost all of the knights when there was Divine Intervention and there last of the knights killed Fire Blooded. The Magistrate's wife, beyond all reason and possibly by divine inspiration, named her child Thuliukuvoreth Wichbuen the Unwanted. So began a long line of deviants, miscreants, malcontents and misanthropes who bore the once revered name. This continued up my grandfather Thuliukuvoreth the Forgotten. My grandfather's life long dream was to bring honor back to our name. He adventured endlessly, performing good deeds without asking for anything in return. His actions would have been of legend, but instead no one ever noticed him. As soon as his good deed was performed and he had left everyone quickly forgot him. Only one girl seemed to remember him or his deeds, and she quickly feel in love with him. Taran was the best mother, wife and grandmother. She watched in agony as her husband performed one good deed after the next but was never acknowledged. She began chronicling his deeds and dutifully kept the house together even when he brought home no gold. She began tracing his lineage back as far as she could as she followed him around in his adventures. She even adventured with him when she was pregnant with my father. She became so convinced in the lot of our family name that she named my father Thuliukuvoreth Wichbuen the Reclaimer before he was born. My father was born on the battlefield. As my grandmother prepared to give birth my grandfather heard of a couple who were being attacked by a raiding party. With permission from Taran, he left while she was in labor to help the couple. After dispatching the raiding party my grandfather ran back to find Taran still in labor. Unknown to him, some of the raiding party followed him back, seeking revenge. They attacked as soon as grandmother started crowning. My grandfather did his best to protect his new family, but in the end he failed. Somewhere during the scuffle my father came out. While he lie there crying, whether on purpose or by accident, one of the raiding party crushed my father's right arm and left side of his face. He was permanently disfigured, his arm was useless. My grandfather was dealt a fatal blow during the fight and died a few hours later. Grandmother wrapped up my father and left immediately. She built a log cabin in the woods near a town and raised my father in the woods. He grew up resenting grandfather, despite my grandmother's loving explanation. He blamed his twisted arm and grotesque face on grandfather. My grandmother's love of my grandfather and belief in our family name led to her bartering in town to get an arranged marriage for my father. I am the product of that marriage, but sadly my mother died in child birth. My father lost all interest in me right after my mother died. He did not even name me, but instead my grandmother did. She gave me the family name and taught me all the stories behind this name. She gave to me all the records she had and read them to me every night as bedtime stories. Some were fantastic and filled with amazing stories of heroism and bravery. Others were cautionary tale of abusing power or respecting all people. My father rejected his heritage, his honor and me. I grew up, against his wishes, in love with my heritage. I decided at a young age to take on my grandmother's mission and father as much information about our family history as possible. Maybe then I came find some way to restore the family honor. I will dedicate my life to the ancient promise our ancestor made to the Fire Dragon. I have a few friends who are like me, the like to think about these ancient Dragons and or favorite game is to pretend to be then and fight bad guys just like in my grandmother's stories. Soon I will be old enough to go out on my own, but for now I live with my estranged father and aging grandmother in a little late cabin near town. By day I work on the house it do small jobs to get money for my family. When time permits I play with my friends or read about my family line and the Dragon of Fire.
