Session 7: Exploring the Glassworks Report
General Summary
25th of Rova 4707 AR
After clearing the main furnace hall of goblins and tying up their prisoner, the group debates their next steps. They decide to explore the rest of the glassworks while Naeric keeps watch outside for passersby. They eventually find the stairs down, and heroically decide to explore everything else first. They discover that the 8 staff slept on-site and were murdered in their beds. The goblins (presumably) also ransacked the kitchens, broke glass wares everywhere, and stole from a safe.
Downstairs, they find a basement with a couple walls that have been broken down to reveal further storage areas. Theodore determines this was recent, due to his extensive experience with how fast dust accumulates in Sandpoint. They listen at various doors and discover one with some quiet snoring.
Espa opens the door to reveal a half-elven man drunkenly sleeping over a desk, on top of some glassworks papers. Espa wonders if he's staff who's been working an all-nighter. They wake him up and tell him to leave for his own safety.
"This is Theodore Remmington and he won all five Swallowtail Ribbons."
The man is wary and questions them. He accuses them of breaking in to the staff-only area, and tries to escort them out. Teddy realizes the guy is putting on an act.
Finally, the helf spits, "You don't get to tell me what to do in my own father's workshop. Get out of here, I'm going to call the guards on you."
"You're Tsuto?" Espa pulls out the letter. He reads it and abruptly punches Espa hard in the face.
This sparks a tough battle! Tsuto Kaijitsu manages to knock Satashi out with two solid punches in the first round. Theodore and Espa play a cat and mouse game while Tsuto tries to escape through the halls and up the stairs, dealing several blows to them in the process.
Espa tries to reason with Tsuto, but he growls at them "You assholes are no better than those other filthy mongrels."
Theodore coolly replies, "The only mongrels I've seen are goblins."
The method actor hits Tsuto with the hilt of his rapier, while Espa coils mycelium around his ankles. She tries to punch him a few times, but he easily dodges.
Tsuto laughs at her, "A maid and a festival winner can't defeat me."
Theodore scowls with fury, and raises his rapier with both hands, and brings it down hard directly onto Tsuto's face. The helf staggers, clutching his ruined nose and dislocated jaw.
Espa seethes and a rush of poisonous spores explode from her skin in a cloud of noxious vapors. Tsuto covers his nose with a cloth and manages to avoid the spores. Theodore coughs, but takes advantage of the limited visibility and strikes Tsuto with his pommel. The musky mist clears, revealing Tsuto sprawled unconscious on the floor.
They tie him up, and put him into a crate with another crate on top. Satashi is woken, and Naeric is fetched, and they're both caught up on what happened. They divest Tsuto of his belongings, including a key with the Kaijitsu seal, and his journal.
The group discovers Ameiko Kaijitsu tied up in one of the storage rooms. She is distraught, and Espa has to gently inform her that Lonjiku Kaijitsu, her father, is already dead.
The guards are fetched and informed. Belor Hemlock is still away traveling to Magnimar for reinforcements. Guards are stationed in and around the glassworks, due to the tunnel that was found which may point to how goblins got into the town. Ameiko, and the party, head to the Cathedral for healing and to discuss their next steps.
