Tidecallers

Structure

Zephyr Envoys

The Zephyr Envoys hold the highest rank within the Tidecallers and collectively form the council that governs and guides the group. As leaders, their primary responsibility is to direct the overall course of the Tidecallers, ensuring the group's objectives are met. Each Zephyr Envoy also heads their own faction, which operates with a degree of autonomy under their leadership. However, if any Envoy or faction acts against the interests of the Tidecallers, the council possesses the authority to reprimand and penalize individuals or entire factions. They make crucial decisions, resolve conflicts, and maintain the unity and integrity of the Tidecallers.

Galewarden

Galewardens serve as the officers under the Zephyr Envoys. There are three Galewardens per Zephyr, working closely with their respective Envoy. Their duty is to oversee and manage the resources, personnel, and operations of the Tidecallers. They ensure that the directives and goals set by their Zephyrs are carried out effectively. Galewardens coordinate the activities of the Stormweavers, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and maintaining order within the group. They act as a crucial link between the Zephyr Envoys and the individual members, facilitating communication and implementing strategies.

Stormweaver

Stormweaver is the title held by the vast majority of members within the Tidecallers. They are sorcerers who have aligned themselves with the Tidecallers and are dedicated to the group's cause. Stormweavers actively participate in the group's activities, utilizing their storm and sea-based magical abilities for the betterment of the Tidecallers' objectives. They engage in spellcasting, study and harness the powers of storms and the sea, and collaborate with their fellow members to achieve the group's goals. Stormweavers report to the Galewardens and carry out their assigned tasks, be it gathering information, performing rituals, or contributing their magical expertise to support the Tidecallers' endeavors.

Tidecaller Neophyte

Tidecallers Neophytes represent the entry level of the organization. They are individuals who have shown potential in sorcery and express interest in joining the Tidecallers. As apprentices, they receive guidance and instruction from more experienced members, honing their magical abilities and deepening their understanding of the group's philosophy. Apprentices assist in various tasks assigned to them, such as research, support roles, and assisting in rituals. They strive to prove their commitment and dedication to the group, with the ultimate goal of becoming Stormweavers and progressing further within the ranks of the Tidecallers.

Public Agenda

The Tidecallers, a formidable group of storm and sea sorcerers, are united by a common agenda that encompasses both societal change and political influence within the Principality of Sollace. With unwavering determination, they strive to challenge and reshape the public perception of sorcerers, dispelling the deeply ingrained prejudice and fear that shroud their kind. The Tidecallers are committed to showcasing the positive impact of sorcery on society, utilizing their formidable magical abilities and knowledge to demonstrate the potential for immense good that lies within their powers. Through acts of heroism, benevolence, and public service, they seek to dismantle the existing legal restrictions that hinder the freedom and rights of sorcerers, advocating for equality and acceptance.   In parallel, the Tidecallers recognize the inherent power they possess as masters of storms and seas, and they employ this influence to shape the political landscape of the principality. They engage in astute political maneuvering, leveraging their unique abilities to secure positions of power and advocate for the interests of their members. By strategically aligning themselves with key figures, forging alliances, and building relationships, the Tidecallers aim to assert their authority and ensure their voices are heard in matters of governance and policy-making.   The agenda of the Tidecallers is twofold, combining the transformative power of public opinion with the strategic acquisition of political influence. By dismantling the negative stereotypes surrounding sorcerers and fighting for their rights, they seek to create a more inclusive and tolerant society. Simultaneously, they actively pursue avenues to exert their influence within the principality, working towards a future where sorcerers are recognized and respected for their unique talents and contributions. The Tidecallers are at the forefront of this progressive movement, dedicating themselves to a noble cause that seeks to reshape the destiny of sorcerers and the principality itself.

Beliefs and Practices

Mentorship and Education

Mentorship and Education lie at the core of the Tidecallers' belief system. Recognizing the importance of passing down knowledge and nurturing new talent, the group prioritizes the mentorship and education of budding sorcerers. They have established a structured system where experienced members take on the role of mentors, guiding and supporting younger sorcerers in their journey of mastering their powers. Through this master-apprentice dynamic, knowledge is shared, skills are honed, and the traditions of the Tidecallers are preserved.

Ethical Use of Power

They believe that with great power comes great responsibility, and thus, they are committed to upholding a strict code of conduct that governs the use of their sorcerous abilities. Members are expected to wield their powers responsibly, ensuring that their actions are guided by moral principles and serve the greater good. The Tidecallers believe that their magic should be a force for positive change and refuse to succumb to temptation or misuse their powers for personal gain.

Exploration and Discovery

Exploration and Discovery fuel the Tidecallers' insatiable thirst for knowledge and growth. The group champions a spirit of curiosity and ventures into uncharted territories, be it remote islands, treacherous oceans, or mystical realms, in search of hidden knowledge and arcane secrets. They are not content with the familiar but constantly seek to expand their understanding of storm and sea magic, pushing the boundaries of what is known and uncovering new realms of possibility.

Unity and Cooperation

Unity and Cooperation form the backbone of the Tidecallers' philosophy. They recognize that the collective strength of their members far surpasses the power of any individual. The group fosters a sense of camaraderie and mutual support, emphasizing the value of collaboration and cooperation. Through unity, they are able to pool their diverse talents and resources, facing challenges and obstacles as a united front. Together, they form a formidable force that stands against adversity and advocates for the interests of all sorcerers.

Continuous Mastery

Continuous Mastery is a guiding principle that drives the Tidecallers to constantly strive for excellence and growth. They believe that the path of a sorcerer is an ongoing journey of learning and development. Members are encouraged to engage in rigorous training, study ancient texts, and exchange knowledge with fellow Tidecallers. By dedicating themselves to continuous mastery, they seek to deepen their understanding of storm and sea magic, refine their skills, and unlock new levels of proficiency. This relentless pursuit of knowledge and improvement ensures that the Tidecallers remain at the forefront of sorcerous expertise and are capable of facing any challenges that may come their way.

History of the Tidecallers

The Tidecallers trace their origins back to a clandestine organization established during the era of persecution against sorcerers. Originally formed as a secretive network, they aimed to protect and teach sorcerers to control their powers discreetly. Over time, their influence and reputation grew, attracting sorcerers seeking guidance and acceptance. Eventually, the Tidecallers transformed into a notable institution, with their council of equals at the helm.   In their early history, the Tidecallers faced opposition from the nobles of the Principality of Sollace, who viewed sorcery with suspicion and fear. However, through their unwavering dedication to their cause and their ability to showcase the benefits of their abilities, the Tidecallers gradually earned the respect and cooperation of some nobles. The tide of public opinion began to turn, and the sorcerers' place in society slowly evolved.   Throughout the years, the Tidecallers cultivated alliances and developed a complex relationship with the Eisenovian Military. Their mastery over storms and seas proved invaluable in times of conflict, earning them recognition and reluctant admiration from the military ranks. Simultaneously, they endeavored to forge stronger connections with the common folk, aiming to bridge the divide and foster understanding.   As the centuries unfolded, the Tidecallers became a formidable force within the Principality of Sollace. Their contributions to the realm's defense, their advocacy for sorcerers' rights, and their commitment to the betterment of society elevated their status. Today, the Tidecallers continue to navigate the intricacies of politics, public perception, and their own evolving purpose, leaving an indelible mark on the history of sorcery and the Principality of Sollace.
