Early Life in Stragesia
Erasmus Rabencroff was born in the mining town of Prescot, Stragesia, to wood elf immigrants. His father, Karl Rabencroff, toiled in the hazardous talvyrite mines and was one of many suffering from deteriorating health due to poor working conditions. Sadly, the authorities turned a blind eye to the miners' pleas for assistance, as the mines were under the ownership of Magister Quincy Branigan, a high-ranking member of the College of Mages.
In 2589, the Miners Revolt erupted in response to the miners' desperate cries for help being ignored while their comrades fell ill. Battlemages, led by veterans of the Goishutan Wars, ruthlessly crushed the revolt, using magic and brutal tactics. Karl Rabencroff participated in the uprising but was captured and handed a draconian prison sentence of 150 years. However, Magister Branigan, involved in the illicit Zifitian Experiments, illegally abducted Karl from prison to serve as an unwitting subject before the scandal surrounding the experiments erupted.
Preaching in Eisenovia
After the traumatic ordeal, Erasmus and his mother left Stragesia, returning to her hometown of Honigsberg in Eisenovia. Fueled by anger and seeking a cause, Erasmus joined the Followers of M'nnor, the God of Justice. His fervent sermons, driven by his personal experiences, struck a chord with the common people, making him the most renowned and beloved priest in the Cresretian Vale. As a result of his personal tale and impassioned warnings about magic and corruption, many residents of the vale joined the military, attracting the attention of local officers and ultimately reaching the desk of Lord Marshal Titus Aruk. Impressed by Erasmus' influence, Lord Marshal Titus arranged for him to embark on a nationwide tour, sharing his father's story and preaching justice and vengeance against the corrupt Stragesians. This endeavor significantly expanded his reach and popularity. The surge in military recruitment following his tour caught the attention of Titus, who became a personal benefactor of the Followers and Erasmus himself. Erasmus' rapid ascent culminated in his appointment to the prestigious College of Pontiffs at a remarkably young age. Leveraging his esteemed title, he has emerged as the leading voice of a radical movement seeking to limit worship solely to the Orderlies, thereby depriving other pantheons of their power derived from devotion.
