Thera is a Theocracy - Elective Monarchy the ruler is chosen from one of the 8 great houses which are each regarded as decendents of one of the 8 gods who make up the Wanderers of Alaukan. The 8 familes heads make up The Balance Council of the Alaukan children. The succession of the crown is done in a cycle going from one house head to the next.
