Celebration of a Promised Future

Since the early days of the kingdom it has been a tradition to have a grand celebration when the heir presumptive becomes offically known as the one who will succeed his father as King.   This usally takes place following the Coranation of the king, either within or years afterwards as the prince has to be at least 18, as at that stage it is believed that the dangers of childhood are over and the person is mature enough to understand the responsibilities that come with the title.   Together with the title of Crown prince of Silverfall is granted the title of The Duke of Risingshire and the right to live in Rissingshire Palace which is located in Lustris Glimond.

The ceremony

The ceremoney talkes place in the throne room of Silverfall palace in which an imposing throne of oak sits in front of a large window radiating light onto the throne. Next to the main throne are two smaller chairs, one on each side. The left one belongs to the Queen while the left one belongs to the heir apparent.   In the ceremony the heir presumptive kneels infront of the current king and swears that he will serve as the king's right hand man, will never raise against the king, will protacd the kingdom's people and will honour the past and serve the future.   This is the only time that a free innocent person must stay kneeling infront of the king while speaking.   After the prince swares he is presented with the robes of gold and purple and a stamp of office. After that he gets up to kiss the king's hand then the queen's hand symbolizing his understanding of his place below both of them and that the respect for the queen will never stop.   The Crown Prince then takes his place beside the king and is welcomed as part of the kings council and official court.

A very formal and important tradition nation wide. I like the detailed descrtiption of the heir's action- from the kneeling to the kissing of the king's hand. I have a question though, the heir could be either a son or a daughter or is it necessary to be a prince?

Hey, thank you for your comment, The Kingdom of Silverfall uses a male-preference primogeniture succession so in most cases it will be a prince.
