Corporate Familialism

Within planets influenced by Hegemony philosophy, some corporations have adopted a policy that reframes the employer-employee relationship as a familial one. This requires first-generation employees to shed their previous family name and adopt the name of their department, embrace their senior and junior coworkers as elder or younger siblings, and live in corporate communities where they are inducted into the traditions and rituals of the corporation, including birthdays and funerals.

Within most familialist corporations, child-rearing is handled by corporate maternity suites, nurseries, and kindergartens. Babies are assigned to caregivers and raised communally by employees, who are encouraged not to grow too attached to individual children. These second-generation children are raised entirely within the corporate ecosystem, undergoing specialized education for their assigned department and physical augmentation to improve their focus, physical resilience, and mental clarity. However, meticulous care must be taken to mitigate the risk of inbreeding.
