DryLock Plains

Welcome to the wacky part of the WildLands

I think I have enjoyed my time in DryLock Lake Plains the most. The vast amount of diverse dinosaurs, it just amazes me. My father enjoyed this area mostly for the ore and I fell in love with the wildlife. My tracker informs me that we should be nearing one of the main herds. I cannot wait.
— Excerpt from The Dinosaurs of Tyleth
DryLock Plains are a large expanse of grasslands home to various herds of herbivore dinosaurs and small pockets of predators. While as normal as that seems the fact that Time Ripples and Time Storms seem to be drawn to the plains more than anyplace else on Tyleth. Most would find this a deterrent there are some who live life to the fullest and call their home on these dangerous and unpredictable plains.
DryLock Plains

Geography

A large expanse of rolling flatlands covered in lush grasses, with a few lakes and river systems and even more sparse thickets of trees. The views of the sea of green are dabbed with vivid hues of, magenta, blue, yellow, and reds. Tale says you can stand on one end of the plains and see all the way to the other.

Fauna

A robust list of dinosaurs that are most commonly seen moving about the plains. Large mixed herds of herbavorie creatures, massive solitary hunters, and cunning pack hunters. Most people when seeing the roaming herds for the first time fall into a spell of wonder. Something about seeing a Dreadnoughtus slowl move across the plains, Torosaurus posturing and fighting for mates, or Baryonyxes fishing in the rivers and lakes of the plains.

Not only are the grasses vivid and something that draws in any nature lover, but there are also flowers with vivid patterns and colors with fragrance either bold and brash or delicate and light. Everything like a bright painting with bold strokes, almost as if an artist placed every color with a trained eye and delicate touch.

Natural Resources

From flowers for making dye to the grass used for flavor and feed to the basics of hide and meat with finally the black ore. Everything that the plains proved should be used in its entierity if you ask the few people that live there.

Rumors/Tall Tales
  • Reports from various sources say you can hear strange howling or moaning noises in the night. Most just mark it off as a dinosaur but there are rumors it might be some sort of abomination or even worse, something that didn't die when the dinosaurs invaded.
  • Beware, beware the glowing eyes. Beware, beware the metal noise. Beware, beware the laughter.
  • Rogue herbivores are a rare sight but happen. They are dangerous and in the DryLock Plains, they are more prone to happen from the large concentration of herbivores.
  • Big Tex, a so nicknamed Giganotosaurus by one of the Star Walkers on a trip down into the plains. Suppose to be the biggest, meanest, one-eyed son of a gun to ever stalk the plains. Said to be three times the size of a normal Giga. The Star Walker said he watched it eat an entire herd of triceratops and still seemed hungry.
