Grey orcs

None are more brutish or violent than the Grey Orcs. They live in the northern mountains of Monostahl and do not take kindly to outsiders. Most who venture to close to a Grey Orc camp do not live to tell the tale. A wondering explorer would know they were in a world of trouble by the skulls, horns, and spikes. Grey Orcs are deeply proud of their place on the food chain and display their kills for all to see... and fear.   Contrasted by their technology savvy kin the Green Orcs, the Grey Orcs are a race that dislikes machines and technology. They choose instead to embrace nature and use their bodies as the weapons. Clubs and the occasional axe are the weapons of choice if such tools are necessary, however most Orcs will grapple their prey and subdue them with unbelievable force. Grey orcs are typically taller and more muscular than the green orcs. This is in part due to their sport.

The Hunt

Nothing is more sacred to a Grey Orc than the hunt. Chasing down a wild animal and killing it with your brute strength is not only sport to the Grey Orc, but it is also a right of passage for young orcs and marks that they have earned a place in the village.   The hunt is also used to decide village leaders, attract mates, and earn respect within the tribe. The more dangerous the animal, the more respect you earn by defeating it. While common prey for the hunt are bears, boar and wolves. The current village chief Torrok is called the Owlbear chief for slaying that beast earned him his title and position as chief.
