Culture and cultural heritage

Industriousness, loyalty, and strength are highly valued in Khalearenth. Khalearenth is somewhat militaristic. Magic is not well-liked, and most mages are looked down upon. Despite this, semi-magical beings are generally accepted, and magical beings are tolerated, although many people are somewhat wary of them. Alchemy is begrudgingly tolerated.   Khalearenthians are well-known for being very welcoming to refugees, especially escaped slaves.

Common Etiquette rules

Khalearenthians generally prefer honesty over politeness, and lying to spare a person's feelings is often taken as a great insult, being seen not only as a betrayal, but also an accusation of emotional weakness.   Profanity is not uncommon, but civility is expected.

Common Dress code

Clothing decoration is not uncommon, and some impact on practicality is acceptable, as long as it isn't excessive.

Art & Architecture

Most Khalearenthian buildings are made of stone, and some have parts made of metal.   Khalearenthian art is often integrated into other things, such as buildings, tools, weapons, etc. Standalone art is less popular, but not disliked.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Khalearenthian funerals are typically cremations. The use of cremations in Khalearenth started in order to render the deceased completely unusable in necromancy.

Common Taboos

In the eyes of most Khalearenthians, the worst possible things besides death are slavery and necromancy. Magic in general is not well-liked, but is not hated as much as necromancy. Khalearenthians also look down upon laziness, disloyalty, and people who are willingly excessively weak.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

Khalearenth is culturally somewhat matriarchal, but it isn't legally enforced.
