The desert nation of Sarandir are the economic backbone of modern Viandes. Saran people love coin and commerce with a religous zeal that has taken over the traditional spaces that Gods would take. It has been a secular nation for centuries. This however does not mean that they do not believe in gods, quite the opposite their existence is aknowledged publicly but religous practice is considered something to be done in the privacy of the home. Humanoid endeavour is king in Sarandir , and coin and commerce was a human invention so they will pursue it fully.

Structure

The Saran Commerce Guild is the authority structure. The Guild Council has the main authority and anyone considered a Guilded Merchants can enact and enforce the law below them the Mercantile officers work as their deputies nation wide. Below this a Diplomat Merchant carries local authority similar to a Mayor and he can assign Traders below him that act as his deputies.

Public Agenda

The Saran are a mercantile people who all value the power of money. They have taken great advantage of the Protectorates trade opportunities but they beleieve that any expansion will make them too large at this stage and they see that they have too much left to exploit within the current set up. This has led to an intense conservatism that may have lost its basis in genuine financial risk and is more an idealogical tradition.

The population is mainly made up of humans and Catfolk.

Coin is king and they will hire mercenaries to fight when required and they keep whatever are the most infamous companies at the time on retainer.

High literacy rate and creates many excellent mathemeticians though those who have no interest in economics tend to move from Sarandir.
