Roc Climbing

In the Bowl a form of Hunting that is seen as both a feat of courage as well as entertainment. The challenger must ride a Roc that is currently in flight. This can be achieved anyway the challenger can conceive but the most widespread is to lasso the Roc and then climb up the rope. Although this is not the easiest way by any means it has become popular due to the spectacle that they can create, as well as bravado in choosing such a dangerous method.   The most recent winner of the spectacle was Truddek Ironarm; who completed the feat before sundown and suffering minimal injuries. This, however, is a nominal victory when compared the, now legendary, effort exuded by Dreggnark Reddecker. Reddecker somehow managed to reach the Roc by midday and spend the remainder of the day riding the beast through the skies. He was never seen again, some say he still soars on the back of his Roc to this day.

Execution

Trapping the Roc can be achieved however the player chooses. Utilise the closest skill that resembles the character's efforts DC 18. Common methods include lassos, trapping and jumping onto the creatures back from a high ledge.   Keeping hold of the Roc once upon it's back requires a DC 15 STR check.   Finally, a successful DC 20 Animal Handling check determines whether the character manages to control the bird while in flight.   Should any of these checks fail, a DEX saving throw determines if they manage to cling on to attempt or plummet to the world below, taking falling damage at the GM's discretion.
