Orc

Orcs are majorly a tribal culture. Orcs society is an almost pure meritocracy, anyone who can offer value to the tribe is respected. Most orcs value martial prowess above all else, which leads to many of them leading brutal and violent lives, however more progressive tribes value intellect and other pursuits and can live relatively peaceful lives. Due to their belief in merit, they use the word Orc to mean anyone who they respect. Violent tribes may find Bugbears or Gnolls amongst their number, more peaceful ones may have even more non-Orcoid members. Only a true blood Orc may be a chieftain even in the most progressive tribes. All Orcs value the mineral Desert Rose, however not all of them will trade with the wider world. Orcs that find themselves considered “useless” to their tribe are exiled and are then found in other Orc tribes or cultures around the world where their pursuits are valued. Orcs split time between living above ground and underground as the changing conditions of the bowl allow.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Upward snub noses are more common than pointed/down turned. Orcs have large tusk teeth where the lower canines of a human would be. Orcs have an under bite that allows them to accommodate these tusks, usually meaning those with large tusks having what would be a severe under bite for a human.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Orcs are found mainly on The Bowl, which is where they originate from. However they can be found all over the world, capable of living anywhere other humanoids can.

Average Intelligence

Orcs have standard capability for humanoids, however many tribes do not value formal education so illiteracy is not uncommon amongst these tribes.

Beauty Ideals

Isolated orcs will favour large tusks and large prominent foreheads. Orc tribes that integrate with the world at large tend to incorporate this into their ideal but much less emphasis will be placed on it. A savage Orc would never claim a large tusk is ugly even if impractical and unwieldy, however a multi cultural Orc will most certainly believe that bigger is not always better.
Average Physique
Generally broader shoulders and longer arms than a human but in general comparable to humans.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Orcs are green but they come in various shades. Generally the colder and darker the climate the darker green the orcs who live there will be. Some Orcs are born blueish or brown, they make around 3% of the Orc population.
