Hel Hammer

The legend states that Archimedis; one of the ancient dwarves when they numbered so few that surnames were not required and all lived under a single clan banner, fell foul of some Ice Elementals. While mining in the fresh Evian mountains, he discovered some fascinating crystals. However these crystals were alive and did not take kindly to his attempts to pry them from the rocks. Exposing him to extreme cold, they attempted to kill the dwarf. However he was sturdier than they expected and long before he would succumb instead all nerves and feelings were destroyed. No longer fearing the cold he grabbed one of the elementals in anger at his loss of feeling and collapsed the passage to them, deciding they should be left alone. He forged a hammer around the small elemental creating a hammer cold to the touch to all but him. He named it the Hammer ov Hel, which he would later pass to his firstborn, and no Helhammer since has felt the cold from the hammer. The holder of the hammer, will also be instructed to never let another dwarf steal an elemental and to keep them safe as penance for their ancestor's theft, lest they pay the same price he did. As Archimedis never again tasted ale or felt the thrum of the worlds heartbeat in the stone.

Significance

Legendary hammer passed down through the Helhammer dwarven dynasty.
