Ali's Heart

Ali, one of two first angels, born of tears from the first rain, came to earth a creature of purity and innocents. Ali, born a blank sleight changed with all he saw. When he looked upon beauty, he reflected all that was beautiful in color and light, and when he saw that which was ugly, he reflected it in rotted flesh, and wilted limbs.
One day, Ali met the second angel, the angel of hell, the angel of all who suffer. Ali fell in love with the hideous creature. The angel of hell thought Ali beautiful, but could not see Ali suffer as all around him did. Telling Ali he must go so he would not become as ugly as he, Ali left, heart broken.
Ali wept in a garden of roses for weeks until his skin was as lovely as the roses were red. His tears made the flowers grow, and the flowers attracted a spirit. The spirit asked Ali why he would cry so? Ali explained all that had happened and the spirit told him a secret. Ali might stay beautiful even in the sight of ugly, if he ripped out his heart, as his heart reflects the world around him, for Ali was the angel of compassion.
It is hard to say who the spirit was, or what deal they might have struck, but Ali left the garden, heartless and beautiful. Empty inside he wanders the earth, long forgotten... 'what is love?' his mind whispers to no reply, and without the angel of compassion, we are left with one angel, the one who suffers.
We are left to wonder, if Ali must suffer because he loved the angel of hell, or if we must suffer because there's hell to pay for the spirit who ran off with compassion.
