Blue/Storm Dragons
Basic Information
Anatomy
lue dragons are easily recognizable by their vibrant blue scales, which range from an iridescent azure to a deep indigo. Their scales are polished to a glossy finish by the blowing desert sands or stormy rain, giving them a slightly reflective quality. They have a single large horn protruding from their heads (with a distinctive secondary ridge protruding form the horn) and large, frilled ears. Their necks are short and broad, and their tails are thick and flat.
They have a distinctive smell of ozone, often described as the scent of electricity.
An adult blue dragon can be up to 85 feet long with a wingspan of up to 80 feet
Ecology and Habitats
Blue dragons prefer arid wastelands and deserts, but they can also be found in dry steppes, searing badlands, and rocky coasts. They make their lairs in underground caves, which they access by burrowing through the ground.
Their lairs are often located in remote, desolate areas where they can easily spot intruders. They use the bleak landscape and its sparse terrain features to their advantage.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Blue dragons savor large prey such as cattle and herd animals, preferring meals of fewer, larger creatures over many small meals. They have no particular desire to hunt sentient prey but will do so if the opportunity arises.
Behaviour
This kind of dragon is known to hoard stories of great hunts. This is typically hunts they have performed themselves but can include other hunts they have observed. It is not uncommon for a blue dragon to claim a trophy of a hunt to serve as evidence of their story.
