Solmara, The Hand of Torva
Saint of the Flame, The Hand of Torva, Martyr of Purity,
Overview
Solmara was once a mortal priestess who, in the face of total annihilation, chose sacrifice through flame to save what remained of humanity. When Azhi-Kael, the fallen enforcer of Torva, opened nine rifts to his Nine Hells during the Hollow Moon Calamity, Solmara offered herself in sacred immolation to reignite Torva’s divine spark.
Her soul did not scatter. It rose in golden fire, and through divine fusion with Torva’s broken will, she became his living hand—a cosmic martyr transformed into a warding saint who forged the Ninefold Seal.
She is not worshipped as a god, but as the perfect vessel of divine order—a burning link between mortal faith and celestial justice.
Appearance in Iconography
Solmara is almost always depicted as:
- A serene woman blindfolded in golden cloth
- Wearing robes of ember and ash
- Holding a flame-filled brazier at her heart
- Wrapped in radiant chains, not as punishment—but as sacred duty
Her halo is a burning crown, shaped like nine flamelit prongs, symbolic of the Nine Flamefolds.
Doctrine
Core Tenets (The Ember Doctrine):
- “Her body burned so ours need not.”
- “Obedience is clarity. Flame is truth.”
- “To endure is to praise her.”
- “Only in silence can you hear her flame.”
Worship Practices:
- Emberfasts – Periods of ash consumption and ritual silence
- Ashveiling – Blindfolding and branding in her image
- The Trial of Flame – Tests of character by walking across sacred flame
- Martyr Reenactments – Annual recitations of her death and ascension, often performed publicly
Divine Role in the Ninefold Seal
Solmara is the architect and anchor of the Ninefold Seal—a metaphysical lattice that binds the Nine Hells of Azhi-Kael beneath the Nine Flamefolds of Cathlidia.
Solmara’s spirit burns across all Flamefolds. Her divine echo is present in each brazier, judgment, and prayer—anchoring the world against infernal collapse.
