Overview
The Cult of the Coil is a growing and deeply feared sect centered around the enigmatic figure known as Oryx—a masked warlock who claims to have “shed truth’s final skin.” To his followers, Oryx is a living god who reveals hidden realities and guides them toward transcendence through transformation.
The Coil's central dogma is that the world is built on lies—identity, divinity, form—and that only through shedding these illusions can one be reborn into a perfect truth.
Their symbol, a spiraling serpent consuming its own tail, appears carved into ruin-walls, burned into the flesh of cultists, and drawn in blood at desecrated temples.
Beliefs
- All forms are false. Flesh, identity, and gods are masks meant to be shed.
- Oryx is the Coil-God, the first and final shape—he who has transcended all falsehoods.
- To shed is to become. Through physical and spiritual transformation, followers transcend mortality and truth alike.
- The Shattered Reach is the Womb of Rebirth. Here, reality is thin enough for Oryx’s voice to break through.
