Her parents are Nikomedes Demos Terzakos Nicolalli and Zinovia Mitriadi Nicolalli.
Before she was born, her older brother, then heir of Luiren, was killed after falling from the second story balcony of their palace. Grief stricken, her parents resolved to have the second story balconies removed and raise all of their children to exercise caution. As a result Sybella and her younger brother Rion Nicolalli were raised by a overbearing Owlbear created to specifically serve as their nurse, Harold.
When she was 12, Sybella's brother Rion died under mysterious circumstances. Zinovia became a shut-in at the death of her second son, and Nikomedes became an sullen drunken man.
At 17 Sybella was engaged to marry a Kara-Turan Prince, Zhan Yun. Her parents resolved to turn over the monarchy to her cousin Spiro Takis Angelina Nicolalli, a member of the lesser branch.
