The Temple of Silvanus, Part 1
General Summary
As Bronwen and Grunk go about their business at Last Rest, they're surprised to see small squirrels approach them with notes tied around one of their forelegs. The notes request their aid, as their contact within the long dormant Temple of Silvanus has reached out about an urgent matter. Separately, somewhere in the woods, a small but familiar sparrow lands on the shoulder of Sig and communicates a similar message.
Sebastian on the other hand, had a different day planned. As Grunk and Bronwen attempt to leave Last Rest, he bursts out of the tavern, challenging the first person he saw to a game of DrinkSmash. That person just so happened to be Grunk, a master of unarmed combat. While Grunk won the first match, Sebastian cleverly won the second; before the third could commence, another squirrel arrived, successfully identifying Sebastian as Matthias, and presenting him with the same note. Sig arrived at the tavern, and the four heroes set off to the Druid Circle together.
Reslin greets them all and tells them that heroes have not been summoned to the Temple in more than a lifetime. However, with their supply of warriors depleted after the dragon attacks, the party is their best hope. They leave with Reslin's blessing and head to the north west towards the Temple in the mountains.
Upon arriving there, they meet an ancient awakened Raccoon, who introduced himself as Pinepaw, protector of the temple. He warns them of the true threat -- an ancient white dragon, imprisoned on the highest peak of the mountains to the northeast. Its prison, controlled by three standing stones, is failing, as two stones have already been destroyed. He points to the third stone, located within the temple, which is cracked and pulsing with dark magic. When the dragon's prison fails, it will be once again able to fly, and be unleased upon the Reach.
With merely hours before the stone crumbles, the party seeks boons from Silvanus to aid them against the colossal foe. Challenged with visions and lessons around life, growth, and death, the four heroes master the lessons of Silvanus, exiting the trials with the strongest available boons.
And as they finally return to the main chamber of the temple, Pinepaw looks somberly at the failing standing stone, and opens up a portal, out of which an icy wind blows.
