The Razor's Edge, Ch. 2
General Summary
Eliana leaps into the Abyss after Pim, her companions unable to follow. She therefore finds herself alone, on an infernal bridge suspended above an endless void of fire and shadow, the Master of Cruelties standing above the broken body of Pim as he drives his fell spear through rat flesh into the stone beneath.
Empowered by the Blackrazor and fueled with rage, Eliana goes into a frenzy, sprinting toward the demon lord as she unleashes a barrage of enchanted arrows, then following up with a flurry of strikes from her midnight blade.
However, the demon’s power was too great for Eliana alone. But as she sank to the infernal flagstones, one bloodied hand clutching the spear running her through the middle, she realized suddenly that she wasn’t alone. The Child hovered before her, its arms outstretched. As if moving through a dream, Eliana reached back. Memories and meaning without words passed between them, and then the Child was reaching out, pulling every thread it could to save this hero where it could not save the last.
High above the town of Last Rest, Shloopurr felt the Archfey tug on his spirit, and he followed the call to help his friend.
When he opened his eyes, Shloopurr felt strong. He looked down at his chad-like pectorals, gave them an experimental flex, and got to work on the demon in front of him.
Eliana, bolstered by the bardic magic of Shloopurr-Pim, and encased in fey-enchanted armor, redoubled her attacks against the demon lord, finally driving it to its knees as the midnight blade cut it down to nothing.
The armor fell away. Shloopurr’s spirit snapped back to the material plane. And as the Child faded to starlight and pixie dust, it made one last fairy ring for an unexpecting hero.
Hoisting her best boy onto her back, Eliana leaps through the ring.
Songs of Glory: Eliana (+5), Shloopur (+2)
